The best time to start the 11 plus preparation for your son or daughter depends largely on their current attainment in primary school. However based on our experience it is recommended your childs starts at year 4 if he or she is thinking seriously of taking the 11 plus exam.
If one start early from year 4 onwards, Elite 11 plus tuition will provide a formal workable plan of action for both Year 4 and Year 5.

Elite 11 plus tuition has 2 phase preparation for excelling in 11 plus examination. This 2 year tuition framework covers all elements of the National Curriculum ( Maths ,English & Reasoning )that are assessed in 11 plus examination..

Year 4-Foundation Stage-Phase 1  
Weekly 90 minutes group tuition provided for this phase. The groups are formed based on similar level of ability. The main aim of this phase is to make sure all pupils have the basic foundation blocks for success in the final 11 plus exams. We cover the National Curriculum at KS2 (level 4 & 5)for Maths and English with emphasis on mental arithmetic, learning core concepts in maths( basic & intermediate), spelling, grammar , punctuation, vocabulary, developing english comprehension skills, developing reasoning skills, learning reading skills, introduction to creative writing.

All students have varied level of academic foundation and will accordingly need calibrated levels of coaching and personalised teaching to achieve their potential by exceling in 11+ examination. Importantly the skills and foundational knowledge pertaining to Maths and English are NOT routinely taught in all primary state schools, so in essence we provide the necessary knowledge, skills and mindset to fill this gap and get the students prepared to a base level from where they can excel in 11 plus test. During this phase we teach at a level which is above the one expected in primary state schools. As a result during the course of the phase 1 year, parents and teachers begin to see a measurable improvement in the student knowledge ,skills, attitude, confidence, attainment and awareness of areas of improvement.

We provide regular weekly home work. The students will be able to get maximum benefit from the tuition only if they complete weekly home work which in turn will help to consolidate their learning and increase their requisite skills.

Regular feedback is provided during this phase for proactive improvement in skills and knowledge.

Year 5-Acceleration Stage-Phase 2  
Weekly 2 hours group tuition provided for this phase. The groups are formed based on similar level of ability.

The Acceleration Stage-Phase 2 builds upon the foundations laid in Year 4 and covers the requirements for specific exam types.
As various schools/exam bodies try to make test “tutor proof”,we design our course such that students have strong skills and knowledge to perform well in 11 plus exams.

Over the course of the Acceleration Stage-Phase 2,most students would have studied the advanced levels of the National Curriculum (Reasoning, Maths and English) thereby exceeding the Year 6 objectives. We cover the National Curriculum at KS2 (level 5 & 6)for Maths and English.Towards the end of “Acceleration Phase 2” we cover Level 7 or more deeper level 11 plus questions.
Advance maths topics are taught to students for both standard format and multiple choice question.Special focus is paid on question which assess a deeper understanding of maths topics .

During this phase we pay special attention to creative writing skills. Students are exposed to various creative writing styles, formats and strategies for exceling in creative writing skills.Similarly we pay special attention to comprehension skills. Students are exposed to various comprehension styles, formats and strategies for exceling in comprehension tasks.Students are
Provided specific skills and strategies to enrich their vocabulary too.
By the end of this stage, our students would have covered the requisite knowledge & skills needed to pass 11 plus test. This is further complemented by mock exam practice. We integrates exam technique and time management strategies with the use of practice papers based specifically for the school your child is being prepared for.

Special emphasis is paid to learning and developing core 11 plus skills, psychological strategies, time and self-management training, exam short cuts/ techniques and good practices.
By doing so students generally become cognizant and confident to the style, structure and content of the exams as they have been looking at exam papers regularly during the course of the two years. Our preparation in this phase will continue right up to the actual exam date.
